Unlocking the power of Mushrooms, Ginger and Turmeric

By Allie Anderson-Henson

As many of our viewers and readers know, Skywatch TV recently launched our Eden’s Essentials line of supplements and nutrients. At a time where interest in natural wellness is piquing and awareness of such threats as the COVID-19 increases public interest in preventative health, I want to feature a couple of supplements offered by Eden’s Essentials which boost immunity and fortify the body’s ability to fight disease.

The first product I’d like to call your attention to is our Fermented Turmeric & Ginger. Perhaps you have heard that curcumin is a vital and essential supplement that offers many benefits such as being an anti-inflammatory, helping to regulate blood sugar, and holding healing powers for the digestive tract. These are each characteristics which can have multi-faceted profits for the body, as each plays a large role in the prevention of illness, the boosting of the immune system, and even the repair of one’s adrenal system.

However, what many are unaware of is that curcuminoids are active compounds which are also found in turmeric, which means that the health value of both of these can be obtained in conjunction with one another. Turmeric is a bioactive compound which works as an anti- inflammatory (thus easing pain associated with ailments such as arthritis), facilitates the body’s antioxidant processes, increases heart health, fortifies the body’s immune system, has been shown to help prevent cancer, and has even served to decrease depression and improve cognitive function.1 However, curcuminoids often have poor water solubility and permeability, making it difficult to absorb them under many circumstances. By taking them in fermented form, the body is allowed maximum absorbability for the highest yield of health benefits offered by curcumin and turmeric.

For many people, illness is a culprit which warrants a responsive (rather than proactive) stance. In other words, their position is “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” However, inflammation is an underlying culprit which impacts many individuals who misunderstand that their symptoms are their body’s way of signaling that there is a problem. The result is often that individuals live with unnecessary and avoidable joint pain, hormone imbalance, fatigue, or other discomforts which they dismiss as mere aging. Often, the real culprit is inflammation, which can be the body’s precursor to illness.

Inflammation is the body’s reaction anytime it perceives it has been damaged, attacked, or injured. Consider this: if one believes his or her arm is broken, the response is to place it in a cast or sling, thus isolating and immobilizing the injured limb. Inflammation, at its onset, is the body’s attempt to do the same thing. It creates a layer of swelling which serves as a cushion and limits movement until healing has occurred. However, when the body suffers continual attack from environmental pollutants, deviant food ingredients, stress, poor quality sleep, or even autoimmune conditions, the body enters a state of emergency response which initiates and perpetuates continual, chronic inflammation. This redirects the body’s healing resources into the management of this state, and throws off the body’s chemicals and hormones in the process. In the meantime, adrenals are deployed, which can interrupt mood levels by contributing to anxiety. Amidst all this physical disarray, the immune system can begin to malfunction, unsure of what the true enemy within the system is, which can diminish the body’s ability to fight off illness and even contribute to auto-immune illness (which occurs when the immune system turns in on its own host body and begins to attack itself.) By pre-emptively intervening on behalf of keeping the body’s functions intact, anti-inflammatory agents help to contribute to the overall health of an individual by redirecting resources back to their intended stations and restoring balance to the body. This is only one of countless ways that overall health is improved and immunity is supported.

In addition to these benefits, Eden’s Essentials Fermented Turmeric & Ginger offers probiotic- fermented rhizome which fosters maximum nutrient absorbability and support for digestive health. This organic supplement comes in powder form which makes ingestion simple and convenient. Many people are unaware that their digestive tract is filled with bacteria which aid in absorption of nutrients and are a huge determinant of overall physical health. This is known as the gut’s microbiota, and when the intestine is fortified with a healthy balance of this flora, the immune system is stronger, cardiovascular health is improved, cognitive function and mood levels increase, and risk of auto-immune disease, cancer, diabetes, and other ailments diminish.

Furthermore, this product contains ginger, which soothes the stomach and digestive tract, relieves many indigestion issues, anti-inflammatory properties, helps to balance blood sugar, fortifies cardiovascular health, relieves discomfort related to the female cycle, increases the body’s ability to fight infection, and even has been shown to improve cognitive function.2

As if the benefits of natural supplementation could escalate from what is offered by Fermented Turmeric & Ginger, I would like to take this moment to appreciate another of our products: Eden’s Essentials Mushrooms. This complex offers a blend of six organically grown, fermented mushrooms available in a powder for easy ingestion. While this blend offers many of the same benefits already discussed—anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, superior absorption ability, and probiotic digestive support—this product has the added benefit of boosting the immune-system. This is because mushrooms are proven to hold something called immunomodulating polysaccharides. Medical studies have shown such mushrooms to be anti- cancer, anti-tumor, and anti-autoimmune agents in addition to their ability to strengthen and reinforce the immune system.3 These have been shown to reduce “breast cancer and other hormone-related cancers because they inhibit and enzyme called aromatase, which produces estrogen.”4 Medical mushrooms have been found to have anti-diabetic properties, along with carbohydrate-binding proteins which are able to identify and eliminate cancer cells while fortifying the immune’s system against future invasion of the same diseases or other infections and even viruses.5 As such, studies continue to reveal surprising new health benefits of these wonder-fungi each year, and their reputation as vital health supplements elevates.

It is imperative when choosing a supplement that one obtains that which is readily absorbable to the body and which is affordable. With these premium products made available at reasonable prices from Eden’s Essentials, Fermented Turmeric & Ginger and Eden’s Mushrooms are sure to make a great addition to your health and wellness essentials!
